Built from Hard Work & Heart
My name is Sergei Tsoy, and my story begins when our family of four — my father Igor, mother Alexandra, sister Marina, and I — moved to the USA in 1999. We had come from Kazakhstan with just $1,500 to our name.
My parents found work immediately: my mother in a restaurant, my father as a painter. They believed wholeheartedly in the chance that we had as immigrants — the chance of a bright future in the “Land of the Free.” Their hard work and sacrifice paid off, and I will always be grateful for the education and opportunity they gave us.
In 2003, my father injured his lower back and had to undergo surgery. During his recovery, he decided to start his own business. It was out of his misfortune that my father established Modern Style Contractors LLC in 2004. His injury turned out to be a blessing in disguise — my father found his niche in the remodeling industry, with a passion for building and a great eye for detail.
By the time our company was born, I was old enough to help on those long 12-16 hour days. I was very lucky to have a family who knew the value of hard work. I was taught that to succeed you always have to work hard, be persistent and resourceful, and always think outside the box.
Twenty years later, it's amazing to look back and see how we've grown into a multi-million dollar, well-recognized local company with over 500 satisfied customers. We've been featured on TV (Channel 8), earned consistent best service awards on Houzz.com and Angie's List — all thanks to our family, loyal team, and the friends we gained on the way to success.
